Weekly Drop: October 2, 2026

Everything else we shipped this week, alongside the releases that got their own posts.

Internal Agent (Sidekick) action steps can use your custom MCP tools

A Sidekick step inside a workflow can now call the tools on your own MCP server, not just Plain's built-in integrations. A workflow that triages an incoming thread can check your own systems in between steps, and have the answer waiting on the thread by the time your team or agent opens it.

Run a manual workflow across a whole queue

You can now select multiple threads in a queue and run a manual workflow on all of them at once. Select the threads, pick the workflow, and it runs against each one.

This is especially helpful when you need to update a lot of threads, like the hour after an incident.

When the workflow uses Sidekick, our Internal Agent, each thread comes back with an unread Sidekick message, so you can see which threads have a result waiting and open the ones you want to read rather than checking them one by one.

Customer Agent (Ari) closes threads it has finished with

If our Customer Agent is the only one who has worked a thread and nothing has happened on it for seven days, we now move it to Done instead of leaving it in Waiting for customer status.
